The heart of Christianity beats in worship. Then, as we gather as the body of Christ at First United Methodist Church, we participate in that vitality. Our worship services seek to orient us toward Christ and nourish our souls for the rest of the week where we can offer Christ’s peace and love to the world through our work and vocation. We worship to praise Christ so that, outside the walls of this building, our friends, neighbors, and co-workers can see Christ in us through our acts of charity and love. Finally, we believe that worship is for all ages. If we want to cultivate a love of Christ in the hearts of the next generation, then children must be a part of the worshipping community. At First United Methodist, children are not an annoyance; we want and welcome your children and grandchildren to praise God with us!
At 8:30, we offer a Eucharist worship service in a traditional, contemplative style where prayer and the sharing of the Lord’s Supper (communion) play a central role in the service. This service gathers those who seek a quiet, intimate relationship with Christ through the Holy Spirit to get their morning started in the right direction.
At 10:30, we offer a spirited traditional worship service with our Chancel Choir. In this service, we praise God with beautiful music, a boisterous children’s sermon, and large co-mingling of God’s people of all ages. Communion is served the first Sunday of every month, and we often have special music from a variety of talented musicians in the area.
At 5:00, we kick-off our evening family ministries with a contemporary style worship service for all ages. This worship services centers around questions. What is the meaning of life? How is it with my soul? What does Christ ask of me? How is Christ at work in my life? Then, it seeks to address those questions through a sharing of prayer, testimony, Scripture, music, and pastor-led devotion. Youth and children are intricately involved in this service, and your children are actively invited to participate in the life of the church.
We celebrate a short, communion worship at two our retirement/assisted living facilities in Cheyenne. The first Thursday of every month we worship at Primrose Retirement Community at 3pm. The second Thursday of every month we worship at Pointe Frontier Retirement at 3pm.
Throughout the year, we celebrate special worship services particularly during Advent (right before Christmas) and Lent (right before Easter). Check the church calendar (link) for times and types of services!
